About ICAC

International Community of Performing Arts Curators

Mission

The International Community of Performing Arts Curators (ICAC), formerly the Association of Arts Curators of Québec (ACAQ), was founded in Montréal in 2012 by Dena Davida, Dominique Fontaine and Jane Gabriels as a non-profit group to develop the emerging practice and theory of performing arts curation. By way of an online platform, ICAC advances local and international activities such as panels, symposiums, meetings, publications and more.

History

Our initial activity was the organization of an international symposium in April 2014 (Envisioning the Practice: International symposium on performing arts curation) in which 160 delegates participated from 13 countries. This symposium has led to the genesis of a global curatorial community including practitioners and scholars, cultural and community workers, artists and educators.
